An article in the SWÖF-Journal already detailed the
fascinating effects of a plant-based, botox-like
substance in 2004.
The substance in question is Myoxinol, an extract form
the tropical vegetable plant Hibiscus Esculentus (Okra).
The obtained complex consists mainly of oligopeptides
and has optimum bioavailability. The publication details
different tests with Myoxinol – amongst which a ground-
braking test with real muscular and neural tissue can be
found. This expamplified the inhibitory effect of Myoxinol
on muscle contractions. A three-week period of application
of an emulsion with 1% Myoxinol led to a 26% reduction
in wrinkle-depth.
This agent is a novel alternative in the field of topical anti-
aging therapy and has therefore won the Innovation
Award for Cosmetics in 2006. It is also referred to as
„facelift in a tube”.
